Coincidentally about a week after we started trying my husband lost his medical insurance, so I'm without insurance for another month. It's been two months since we've started trying and I have yet to get my period. Every pregnancy test I've taken has been negative.
I have been unusually exhausted lately, but other than that I have no symptoms. Is there any way I could have a better idea whether I'm pregnant or not before I can see a doctor?
Before I started the pill three years ago, my periods were very irregular I had blood tests done which showed my hormones way off balance. Is there any way I could be pregnant despite negative results?
The best thing to do is see a doctor, insurance or no insurance. It's not only the best choice for your health, but also for your possible child's. After all, if you are pregnant, you need to be receiving regular medical care and monitoring.
Call your regular doctor and inquire about how much money it would cost to have a pregnancy test and check-up. If you can pay for this, do it!
If not, do some research about other local options. There are state clinics, as well as non-profit organizations that can offer pregnancy tests and medical care; these will probably be much, much cheaper than your regular doctor.
One note: if the pregnancy tests you are using are current, and you are using them correctly, it's important to understand that they are highly accurate. They are testing for a specific hormone that is released by the body when it is pregnant. However, if you have fluctuating hormones normally, this might possibly affect the accuracy of the test.
Only a doctor can tell you for sure. If you are pregnant, you'll need advice on making it a healthy pregnancy. If you aren't, then you owe it to your body to have a check-up. Problems with feeling rundown could signify a bigger issue. And if you are having problems with menstruating and hormones, this could lead to problems conceiving.
Best of luck.
