im not supposed to start my period for about 2 more weeks so i guess thats why i thought it could have been that...

Well, if on this occasion things were a little rougher than usual, or he penetrated you more deeply, that could have caused bleeding. Likewise, any rough edges on his nails could have caught in your skin.
Most girls have only partial (if any) hymens by their mid-teens. Many people imagine a straight piece of skin just blocking the vagina, which isn't exactly correct - after all, your period has to come out, so you know there isn't a big barrier.
Bleeding is common if any remaining skin is torn, and this can happen the first few times the vagina is penetrated.
If you are experiencing pain, or if the bleeding continues to happen when you are fingered, you'll want to see a doctor. However, chances are it won't happen again.
